Where are the best panettoni and pandoro in Italy made? In the south and more precisely in Campania: the results of Mastropanettone 2024

Of the nine prizes in the Goloasi competition, seven go to the South. The best artisanal Panettone is from Capaccio, the best pandoro is from Colle Sannita. Lazio and Lombardy managed to qualify in second and third place only for the artisanal Pandori section.

The "Best Traditional Artisan Panettone” of the year? It is that of Antonio Ventieri of the Torteria di Antonio Ventieri from Capaccio-Paestum (Sa). The “Mthe best artisanal Pandoro”? It is signed by Enzo Martuccio of the Pastry Shop Enzo Martuccio of Colle Sannita (Bn). The “Best Artisan Chocolate Panettone”? He does it Gianluca Cecere of Visionary Dessert in Naples.

The eighth edition of the Mastro Panettone 2024 competition organised by Goloasi, a reference portal for Italian pastry shops and ice cream parlors which works to highlight the artisanal excellence of pastry making, helping to preserve Italian confectionery traditions and stimulate innovation in the sector, saw Campania artisans triumph in the categories of the best artisanal panettone and pandoro of the year, with seven awards. Lazio and Lombardy they managed to qualify in second and third place only for the artisanal Pandoro section.

The list of winners: Daniele Milo of Le Sfoglie d'Oro in Salerno and Luigi Vetrella of Visioni Bistrot in Caserta, respectively second and third place with their traditional panettoni. Second place in the category dedicated to chocolate panettone is Antonio Costagliola of Guantiera Pasticceria in Bacoli (Na), followed in third place by Luigi Vetrella of Visioni Bistrot in Caserta. Second and third place for the best pandoro went to Martina Moroni of Bar Gelateria Le Fate in Lariano (RM) and Roberto Moreschi of Roberto Pastry & Bakery in Chiavenna (So).

The technical commission, composed of Claudio Gatti, Marco De Vivo, Pietro Netti, Giuseppe Mancini, Francesco Borioli, Carmen Vecchione and Eustachio Sapone, defined the ranking and established the winners of the 2024 edition of the competition. During the final at the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Bari, they blind-tasted the 33 leavened products that reached the final (16 traditional panettoni, 12 creative chocolate and 5 pandoro). The event was also broadcast live on the official Facebook page of the competition and also saw the awarding of the Best Packaging, assigned to the box by Lombardi Pasticceri of Maddaloni (Ce).

Born with the aim of celebrating the excellence of the great artisanal leavened Christmas products in Italy, Mastro Panettone is a contest dedicated to Italian artisans who with commitment and dedication create the leavened products that are a symbol of the Christmas holidays. The main requirements to participate in the contest are: use of fresh sourdough for the production of leavened products, candied fruit without sulfur dioxide and compliance with the legal specifications (Decree 22 July 2005 Regulation of the production and sale of certain baked confectionery products. Official Journal no. 177 of 1-8-2005); there is, however, no restriction on the use of raw materials.
