Whatsapp lands on PC and Mac: go to the app

Whatsapp arrives on PC and Mac. The instant messaging service that has reached over a billion mobile phones worldwide has, in fact, formalized the launch of two new applications that allow you to use the service on Mac and PC. At the moment, however, a version for Linux has not yet been launched.

However, it will not be a native Telegram application, but more of a container for the Web version of Whatsapp, which users of all platforms can continue to use freely from the browser. Compared to the web version, the application, which can be downloaded for free on the official website, offers compatibility with native desktop notifications and the ability to use system keyboard shortcuts.

On first launch the application shows a screen with QR Code which must be photographed with the smartphone to connect the computer to the telephone forever and converse directly on one's PC or Mac. The program would therefore become a kind of extension of the smartphone, which must always be connected to the network for the desktop version of Whatsapp to work .

Soon, according to rumors, the app, which works in parallel with the one installed on the smartphone, keeping contacts and conversations, should also be equipped with the ability to make calls.
