On Saturday afternoon, the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa hosts the We're Back event, the first appointment dedicated to young Italians who have left Italy or are thinking of doing so. An event with successful speakers to analyze and enhance the potential of a future in Italy, evaluating the conditions necessary to reverse the course of the brain drain. In fact, according to the 2018 Istat report on "Equitable and sustainable well-being", compared to 16 graduates between the ages of 25 and 39 who left Italy in 2016, only 5 returned in the same period.

The event – organized by the Genoese association NewGen and sponsored by Banca Passadore, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Genoa and the Liguria Region – was born with the aim of creating an innovative and interesting annual event for all young Italians, starting from Genoa and opens up to other cities and offers meetings, training and networking, sharing success stories experienced by those who have made their way back to Italy and focus on the best practices to be imported into our country.

The program includes the greeting of Palazzo Ducale, del Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, who strongly wanted this event and the director of the technological and innovation area of the Municipality of Genoa, Alfredo Viglienzoni. We will continue with the presentation of the works, by the correspondent of Le Iene Nicolò De Devitiis, which include brief interventions on his own experiences and on the Italy-foreign relationship by the economist Carlo Cottarelli, by the CEO of Fastweb Alberto Calcagno, by the entrepreneur Federico Grom, the conductor Alvise Casellati and the actress Sabrina Impacciatore.

The comparison will continue with a round table moderated by journalist Ferruccio De Bortoli, with the participation of the CEO of Beesy, Matteo Concas and the CEO of Wylab Vittoria Gozzi, as well as the aforementioned Cottarelli and Calcagno.

“I consider – explains the Mayor of Genoa Bucci – experiences abroad useful for learning, getting to know, coming into contact with new cultures and then returning to Italy making the most of what has been learned. In the ideal city that I imagine, and I'm sure Genoa will become such a city, the leader of these new concepts, I see brilliant young people who want to get involved in other countries and then successfully return to live in Italy. After all, Genoa and the Genoese have been masters of the sea for centuries and have conquered lands around the world, always returning to their homeland. We're Back is an important event with high-level personalities with life experiences to tell and I'm proud that Genoa is hosting such an innovative event”.

Passador Bank, which has always been committed to enhancing young talents, has supported this initiative with conviction, in the certainty that such opportunities for meeting prepared and capable young people can provide interesting food for thought to facilitate the return of resources who have left our country over the years and to value what is left.

The event is free and open to the public, upon registration on the site.
