Corporate welfare: here is the first rating for companies

Spreading the culture of corporate welfare as a growth lever for small and medium-sized enterprises, which represent 80% of the country's workforce. This is the objective of Welfare Index PMI, the initiative – now in its second edition – promoted by Generali Italia, with the participation of the major Italian confederations: Confindustria, Confagricoltura, Confartigianato and Confprofessioni.

The survey involved over 3.400 companies, 60% more than in 2016. The research, conducted by the Innovation Team, represents the first systematic mapping of the diffusion of corporate welfare, which this year has expanded to the five production sectors - agriculture, industry, crafts, commerce and services, studies and professional services – and the third sector.

The Welfare Index PMI provides participating companies with a measure of their level of welfare considering 12 corporate welfare areas. Through the website www.welfareindexpmi.it, each company can access a free service to measure its welfare initiatives and compare itself with the most advanced experiences in its sector.

This year the Welfare Index PMI introduces a new tool: the Rating Welfare Index PMI, which groups all companies into 5 classes with an increasing value from 1W to 5W. The aim is to allow companies to communicate their level of welfare in immediately recognizable way, making the rating a competitive advantage as well as stimulating a growth path.

The 22 companies that have obtained the 5W are stories of excellence, i.e. companies that have implemented a wide range of initiatives for the well-being of workers and their families, with original solutions.

“Welfare is part of Generali Italia's DNA – declared Marco Sesana, Country Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Generali Italia – both for our 8 employees and for the employees of large companies, our customers. But Italy is made up of small and medium enterprises and the Welfare Index PMI initiative aims to spread the culture of corporate welfare among them and, therefore, throughout the country: a key tool for growth”.
