Il first weekend of 2025 – which will close the holiday period – is expected to be lively on the front weather: Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th January will bring us some respite with some clearings, but Monday January 6, Epiphany day, a disturbance Atlantic which will mark the return of the pioggia, from the wind and even some snow. And it doesn't end here, because after the Epiphany, Italy will prepare for a dramatic turn of events with a lowering of temperatures and possible snowfall even in the plains.

Weather: here is the forecast for the first weekend of 2025

After the storms that hit the South, Saturday January 4 shows a improvement in most of Italy. Low clouds and morning fog will characterize the North, where some residual rain is not excluded. However, in the rest of the country, the situation will improve significantly. The Center-South will enjoy a sunny day, with temperatures that will rise to 15-17°C, especially on the major islands and along the coasts.

Sunday January 5 will mark thebeginning of a change. Clouds will become more present, and will begin to cover the North and the mid-upper Tyrrhenian Sea from the morning. Liguria will see the first rains, while in the afternoon the bad weather will extend towards Piedmont, Lombardy and Triveneto. In the meantime, the southern regions and the islands will remain more stable, with pleasantly higher temperatures, up to 17°C in some areas. Those who live in the South will be able to enjoy a quiet Sunday, while in the North the first rains will begin to be felt.

Befana Weather: Bad Weather Coming with Rain, Wind and Snow

We arrive at the fateful day of EpiphanyJanuary 6th will see the passage of the second disturbance of the year, which will bring rains e winds over much of the country. 

Al North part the phenomena will intensify already in the morning, with heavy rains that will affect especially Piedmont, Liguria and Lombardy, while the Alps will see the first snowfalls starting from 800-1200 meters. In the evening, the phenomena will also extend to Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna.

Al Center, bad weather will arrive in the afternoon and evening, bringing rain to Tuscany, Lazio and western Sardinia. The regions of South will remain mostly subject to partly cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures, thanks to the Sirocco winds.

Weather forecast after January 6: the polar cold is coming

After the passage of the January 6th disturbance, the temperature will suffer a drastic drop. Starting from the 7 January, Italy will be hit by arctic air, with a drop in temperatures that will particularly affect the regions of North part and Center. Snowfall will return to lower altitudes and could reach the plains, with flakes expected especially in the North. The phenomena will also extend to the Center-South, where rain and temperatures will be well below seasonal averages.
