Weekend at the cinema: from Maccio to Ben Affleck, the films to see

Here are the top new releases in theaters, so you know what to see this weekend.

TO BE SEEN

Italian homicide
The second film by Maccio Capatonda tells of a real or presumed murder that upsets the remote village of Acitrullo, in the Abruzzo hinterland. The morbid attention of television and an unscrupulous mayor transform the village into the "new Cogne". Between social criticism and laughter, Capatonda's new film looks promising.

The law of the night
Ben Affleck returns to directing, four years after the last time, when, with Argo, he took home the statuette for best film. The law of the night, in which Affleck is also the protagonist, flanked by a cast of absolute importance (Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller, Chris Cooper, Remo Girone) is a noir drama set in the United States States of the roaring 20s, between the underworld and prohibition.

Meet Toni Erdmann
One of the revelations of the year. Maren Ade's film with Peter Simonischek and Sandra Hüller tells the story of Inès, a career woman who works in a large German company in Bucharest, until her routine is upset by the arrival of her father, a cumbersome and hilarious character. who will try to make her find her nature again, in a journey that is both comical and profound.

Logan
Yet another movie about the X-Men, or at least some of them. Another film in which Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine. But this time, unlike the last ones, there seems to be a storyline worth following. An exiled Logan, in 2029, must return to being Wolverine for one last, very violent mission.
