Webuild: 16 billion contract in Texas, the stock takes off

Blame for Webuild and its US subsidiary Lane Construction. The two companies signed a $16 billion contract with Texas Central for the construction of the high-speed rail between Dallas and Houston, in the United States. The ad has put the wings to the Webuild title which just over an hour after the closure of Piazza Affari gains 6,21% to 2,19 euros.

Going into the details of the agreement, the closing will come in the next few months and subsequently the works of the mega-project will start, which will allow travelers to move quickly, but also in a sustainable way.

Thanks to this contract, North America rises to 35% of the group's total construction backlog, becoming the first single marketplace for construction backlogs. The Italian companies working with Webuild will integrate Lane's American supply chain on the project, included Italferr (Ferrovie dello Stato group), which will take care of the supervision. Webuild will have the task of carrying out civil engineering works, with the design and construction of the route of 379 km, of the track system, viaducts, buildings and services for maintenance, for the depot of trains and for the storage of materials. One is expected reduction of 101.000 tons of greenhouse gases per year otherwise produced by car and plane travel between the two cities. An estimated 2050 million Texans living in areas served by the train will use the new line by 13.

The project also plans to build factories for products to be used for the construction of the railway line. With the construction of the new railway line will be created 17.000 direct jobs and over 20.000 indirect. According to forecasts, materials will be used for an estimated value of contracts of 7,3 billion dollars from US suppliers in 37 states and contracts for the Italian supply chain specialized in the sector. When the trains enter service, more than 1.500 direct jobs will be created.
