If the weekend just ended gave us a preview of summer with peaks of 30 degrees in many cities, this week brings with it a sudden change. A'cold air and unstable directly from Scandinavia will make its appearance, bringing with it rains e temperature lower than expected. Snow should appear in the Alps up to low altitudes and in the Apennines up to medium altitudes.
Starting from Tuesday 16 April, we will find ourselves faced with a real turning point from the point of view weather. A vast depression area, positioned between Finland and Sweden, will be capable of directing polar air currents directly towards our beautiful country. The Mediterranean could be the scene of a phase of Maltempo, with the areas most at risk of precipitation identified above all in the North East and, subsequently, in the Centre-South. The fearsome Bora, on the Adriatic side, will favor the formation of a promising cyclone strong winds and thunderstorms.
Weather: temperatures drop
Temperatures will drop dramatically, even 12 degrees in some areas compared to previous days. The Northeast and Central-South will be particularly affected, with values below the seasonal average. By Thursday 18 April, thermometers could drop by as much as 14/15°C compared to the previous days, giving us a fresh memory of spring. In detail:
- Tuesday April 16 – Thunderstorms in the North, strong in the Northeast. In the Center: first sunny, then bad weather on the Adriatic areas. In the South: thunderstorms and scattered rain.
- Wednesday April 17 – In the North: still unstable in the Northeast and the Alps. In the Centre: probability of thunderstorms and rain, especially in the mountains and on the Adriatic side. In the South: unstable weather at times.
- Thursday April 18th – North: scattered clouds with large clearings. Centre: overcast with scattered rain, mostly in the Adriatic areas. South: moderate rain in some areas, scattered clouds elsewhere.
- Friday April 19th – North: clear west, overcast east with light rain in Romagna and on the Emilian plains, clear elsewhere; Centre: Tyrrhenian Sea: scattered clouds, clear on the Tuscan ridge. Elsewhere: light rain.
When will the heat return?
At the moment, according to experts, there are no indications on a return domineering of hot as in the first part of April. In fact, it is possible, with models in hand, that the situation linked to the cold could extend at least until the entire first week of May. But it is still early to have a clear picture of the situation.
