The cold continues to be more intense than usual throughout Italy. Not only will frost and snow persist in the next few days: according to the weather forecast, from today, Friday 13 January, there will be a new general worsening of conditions that will bring rain, wind and snowfall even at low altitudes. This is a perturbation coming from northern Europe.
The Civil Protection has issued a notice of adverse weather conditions which forecasts "snowfalls up to lowland levels in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Lombardy, extending from tomorrow morning to Emilia-Romagna and, from the evening, to the Marches, with on the ground weak to moderate”.
From the early hours of Friday, therefore, "strong westerly winds with gusts of strong storms are expected in Tuscany, Marche, Lazio, Umbria and Abruzzo - continues the Civil Protection - extending, in the morning, to Campania and Molise and from the late afternoon to Basilicata and Calabria; in rotation from the northern quadrants in the evening on the Marches. Sea storms on exposed coasts”.
From tomorrow morning, on the other hand, “scattered to widespread precipitations, even of a shower or thunderstorm nature, are expected in Lazio, Umbria, Campania, Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata and Calabria, especially in the Apennine sectors. The thunderstorm phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, strong gusts of wind.
