Le temperature continue to collapse across much of the country, with the thermometer marking values that are decidedly unusual for mid-November. Experts predict that a Rome the minimum temperature will be 2°C, a value that represents the record of the last 12 years for this period of the year, even if it remains far from the -3,2°C recorded in Ciampino in November 1981. Florence will not be any less, with minimum temperatures approaching zero in the peripheral areas for at least two consecutive nights. In the Po Valley, the cold will be felt even more markedly: from Veneto al Piemonte widespread frosts will be recorded, with meadows and roads covered in frost. However, with thestart of the weekend, rinforzo of high pressure will bring atmospheric stability and clear skies to much of the country, albeit with some exceptions.
Biting cold and snow in the Center-South
The person responsible for this sudden drop in temperature is a nucleus of cold air coming from Sweden, which crossed the Adriatic coast bringing with it a first taste of winter. THE snowfall they didn't take long to arrive: above 900 meters the reliefs of Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo and Molise were covered in snow. Only a few days ago, the minimum temperatures in Northern Italy were still touching 8-9 degrees, but this drop in temperatures marked a rapid change of season.
Even the South Winter is knocking on the door: showers are expected in the next few hours Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria e Sicilia Tyrrhenian, with snow above 1.500 metres. However, from Saturday, the weather will tend to improve in these areas too, although with a fresh wind that will sometimes be the main protagonist.
Weekend weather forecast: sunny during the day, frost in the morning
Saturday November 16 it will be a sunny day over much of Italy, thanks to the consolidation of high pressure. The wind will ease almost everywhere, but the morning will bring with it new frosts in the North and in many areas of the Center. During the day, temperatures will be more pleasant: highs of up to 20 degrees are expected in Sicily and Sardinia, 17 degrees in Rome and Naples, while in Northern Italy it will be difficult to exceed 10 degrees, with the exception of Liguria and Romagna, where they will reach 15 degrees.
Sunday November 17 will see the arrival of a slight change: the winds will rotate from the western and southern quadrants, bringing more humid currents towards Liguria and Tuscany, with the first scattered rains. The North and part of the Center will also see an increase in cloudiness, while in the South the good weather will continue to dominate.
Next week: rain, wind and snow
La new week could reserve a turning decided: I am heavy rains coming (and potentially flooding) along the central-southern Tyrrhenian coast, rough seas and storm winds, especially on Wednesday. This worsening will be accompanied by a further drop in temperatures and general bad weather conditions, with possible significant snowfall on the Apennines and minimum temperatures falling further, even below zero. In the South, the situation should remain more stable until mid-week.
