Wearanking: Eni, Snam and Telecom top 3 in Europe

All-Italian podium in the ranking of the 500 best European companies for corporate communication on the Internet. Among the ten best-ranked Italian companies also Pirelli and Terna – More transparent sites but there is still a technological gap with European companies

Wearanking: Eni, Snam and Telecom top 3 in Europe

It's an all-Italian podium: Eni repeats last year's result and wins, with a score of 87 out of a maximum of 100, the ranking of the Top 500 European industries as best Web communication. An index of transparency in which Snam closely follows (second by very little, with 86,3 points) and Telecom Italia on the third step with 83,3 points. In fourth and fifth place are Swedish hygiene products Sca and Finnish Wartsila (energy plant engineering). Two other Italian companies ranked among the top 20: Pirelli&C, which fell from 16th to 11th place, and Terna, which also fell from 12th to 18th place.

Jakim Lundquist, Head of Austria, Italy and Switzerland at Comprend, the company that takes care of the ranking underlines that “the research measures the fundamentals of corporate communications on the web and dialogue on digital channels, based on the requests of the stakeholders. Losing the stress tests means that the Spa is not using digital communication as a strategic tool for its reputation, a vital approach in times of transformation like this".

This year 29 Italian companies have been evaluated within the Ft Europe 500 Webranking, up from 26 last year. The average score was 48,4, higher than the average score of the entire sample which was 39,1 points. Italian companies have therefore made great strides in terms of transparency but not enough from the point of view of technological advancement, argue the researchers of "Although Italian companies have achieved excellent results in accepting the requests of stakeholders in terms of transparency and dialogue, there are few websites that manage to communicate with mobile users through an adequate design” commented Caroline Baker, project manager. With regard to new digital trends, in fact, Italy is reducing the gap with other countries but is not yet in line in some areas: in particular, only 1 out of 6 companies has sites designed to be used also via mobile devices against a range of 1 in four in Europe.

Here are the scores and rankings (in brackets the positioning on the European 500) of the top ten Italian companies:
