Watergate, former editor of the Washington Post dies at 93

Farewell to Ben Bradlee, the director of "Watergate". It was he who pushed the two young reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to follow the story, to investigate thoroughly to be sure that the truth would come out. The legendary former editor of the Washington Post died yesterday at his Washington home at the age of 93.

He had suffered from Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia for years and died of natural causes. The news was given by the same newspaper on his website, accompanying the series of articles with a black and white photo of him. Also memorable is the interpretation made by actor Jason Robards in the film "All the President's Men", with which he won the Oscar and received compliments from Bradlee himself.

President Obama, who presented him with the Medal of Freedom last year, praised him for helping Americans understand the world in which they live.
