Corporate volunteering: the Banco Bpm project

Banco BPM participates in corporate volunteering with the Volontariamo project. Throughout 2017, around 500 working days will be made available to employees of the banking group to devote to voluntary work in collaboration with various non-profit organizations located throughout the country. This is the first initiative involving all the colleagues of the new Group, since Banco BPM was created on 1 January from the merger of Banco Popolare and Banca Popolare di Milano.

Corporate volunteering is a project with which the company encourages, supports and organizes the active and concrete participation of its staff in the life of local communities through collaboration with various associations. It will be possible to participate in numerous proposed activities: from the painting of reception areas to service at solidarity canteens, from the sorting of clothes, toys and food products at warehouses to interventions to protect the environment.

The initiative will first involve Verona and Milan, and then continue with Bologna and Monza, reaching throughout Italy the cities where Banco BPM is present, thus making its closeness to the reference territories felt. Banco BPM thus takes up the legacy of Banca Popolare di Milano, which has already been committed since 2015 to the active participation of its employees in support of non-profit organizations. The project, which is aimed at all employees, has in the past had the merit of bringing some of them into continuous voluntary work, including the youngest, adding value to a sector that notoriously involves above all older age groups.

"This initiative - said Salvatore Poloni, Co-General Manager of Banco BPM - once again demonstrates the attention of the Banco BPM Group to the territories to which it belongs, in continuity with its tradition, and is an indication of how collaboration between different subjects represents a practice of 'good example' that feeds a new way of expressing support to the economic, social and civil fabric of reference."
