Volkswagen presents all owners of old diesels with a substantial offer for the purchase of a new car, a sort of scrapping premium called "Umweltpraemie" (premium for the environment) of up to 10 euros. The offer also applies to Audi, Seat, èkoda and Porsche and is valid from now until December 2017.
In detail, the prize for a new Golf is 5 euros, 3 for a Polo, 10 for a Touareg – Bild anticipated this morning. News later confirmed by a press release from the Wolfsburg automaker.
The offer is valid only for Germany but the company is evaluating its extension beyond the borders to cover the entire European market.
The prize is aimed at all those who have owned a diesel car of any brand for at least six months – not just Volkswagen or its affiliates – with an emission class between Euro 1 and Euro 4.
For those who buy even more eco-friendly, hybrid or electric cars, there is an additional offer between 1.000 and 2.380 euros.
