Volkswagen, now also under investigation for tax evasion

The troubles aren't over yet Volkswagen. For the German company, according to what Afp writes, a further investigation is looming on the sidelines of the scandal on the alterations to the exhaust gases: this time it is a question of tax evasion. The Brunswick prosecutor, Brigit Seel, announced that she had launched investigations into five employees at the Wolfsburg headquarters - without specifying their degrees and sectors of competence - for suspected tax evasion.

Seel only pointed out that this investigation is linked to those on alterations to the exhaust gases. This is the same prosecutor who a few weeks ago launched another investigation into the alterations to CO2 emissions on around 800 VW vehicles. And this had already marked a first branch with respect to the initial scandal, which concerned the emissions of nitrogen oxides on about 11 million diesel engines, also indicating the involvement of some petrol cars.

Meanwhile according to the Financial Times Audi has admitted that another 85 thousand vehicles, in addition to those already identified, used emission alteration systems. According to the US newspaper, these developments call into question the claims made since the beginning by the automaker, according to which the embezzlements were attributable to a limited number of people.
