Volkswagen: Matthias Mueller (ex Porsche) is the new CEO

Volkswagen's board of directors has named the former Porsche number one, Matthew Mueller, new CEO after the departure of Martin Winterkorn. “I welcome this assignment despite the difficult time we face but I am confident. We will introduce stricter standards so that we can no longer repeat what happened." These are the first words at the press conference of the new Volkswagen CEO, Matthias Mueller who immediately takes office.

"My priority is to regain the lost trust in the Volkswagen group" he added in the short presentation speech to the press at the end of the board meeting that entrusted him with the job. The board of Volkswagen he thus immediately found the successor to the outgoing managing director Martin Winterkorn, who was forced to leave his office following the scandal of the fraud on emissions controls.

Just today, German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt spoke of 2,8 million VW vehicles circulating in the Germany and among these there would also be cars with a 1.200 engine capacity and some vans. The stock, which was recovering share on the Stock Exchange, sank again, canceling this morning's rise: it closed at -4,32% (107 euros), leaving 34% on the ground compared to the value recorded last Friday.

Meanwhile, the European Commission is studying new measures to reform the car market and monitor compliance with the emission ceilings under study after the case of Volkswagen diesel engines not up to standard. From January 2016 the new rule will be in force which requires you to carry out no more lab tests on nitrogen oxides (NO) and particulate emissions from vehicles, but real road driving simulations.
