Vodafone: 2013-2014 profit soars to 72 billion, but turnover falls

The British telecommunications giant closed the 2013-2014 financial year with a leap forward in net profit to 72 billion euros, thanks to the sale of the stake in Verizon Wireless for 130 billion dollars – Revenues down by 1,9 % at 43,6 billion pounds: the performance on the European markets weighs.

The 2013-2014 of Vodafone is on file, which closed with a net profit of 59 billion pounds, equal to approximately 72 billion euros, a clear improvement compared to the profit of 413 million pounds of the previous year, above all through the sale of its stake in Verizon Wireless to Verizon for $130 billion.

On the other hand, turnover decreased: -1,9%, to 43,6 billion euros. Despite the good performance in emerging markets, the group continues to experience a decline in European markets: “In Europe, where we continue to face competition, regulatory and macroeconomic pressures, we have taken steps to improve our commercial performance, particularly in Germany and Italy , and we are beginning to see the first encouraging signs”, said the CEO of Vodafone Vittorio Colao.
