Vodafone: stock slowing down after the accounts

Sudden stop for the Vodafone stock on the London Stock Exchange after the publication of the 2021 financial statements, which closed on 31 March with slightly declining revenues and profits. By mid-morning, the shares lost 6,8% to 132,1 euros.

In the fiscal year that has just ended, the mobile operator has recorded a decline in profits recti by 1,2%, while the net profit is equal to 536 million. L'ebitda stood at 14,4 billion euro (-1,2%) against a turnover equal to 43,8 billion, down by 2,6%. They hold revenues from services, which amounted to 37,1 billion euros (-0,1% year on year). The Free cash flow it's at $5 billion before spectrum and refurbishment costs, in line with expectations. 

Secondo managing director Nick Read, Vodafone exited the year with "acceleration of services revenue growth across its business, with particularly strong performance in its largest market, Germany." 

“We have completed the first phase of our strategy to make Vodafone an even stronger connectivity provider,” Read continued, citing organizational simplification, the IPO of the towers, the increase in broadband subscribers and the reduction of churn rates. "Our digital transformation initiatives have generated savings of 0,5 billion euros during the year - he added - and the integration of the assets acquired by Liberty Global is well ahead of schedule".

The company said it expects ebitda to the current year will rise to 15 -15,4 billion euros, with a free cash flow of at least 5,2 billion euros.

For Italy during the year, revenues from fixed network services grew by 1,4%, while broadband customers recorded an increase of 3,1%. In general, revenues from services amounted to 4,458 billion euros, influenced by the ongoing competitive intensity in the mobile segment and by the reduction in roaming traffic caused by the impact of the pandemic on the flows of foreign visitors to Italy.
