Vodafone, smart working for over 3.100 employees

Vodafone Italia launches Smart Working for over 3.100 employees, who can now choose work spaces and tools more independently. This is the company experience involving the largest number of employees in Italy (source: Smart Working Observatory of the Milan Polytechnic). After various experiments and pilot projects, Vodafone has decided to extend smart working to all employees who do not have direct contact with the customer, offering them the opportunity to work remotely for 2 days a month, between Tuesday and Thursday.

“With smart working, work organization becomes closer to the evolution of the world around us – explains Elisabetta Caldera, Human Resources and Organization Director of Vodafone Italia -. For us it means above all being the first to use the products and services we offer to our customers. And then - continues Caldera - a work culture more oriented towards results and less towards physical presence is encouraged. Thus it increases productivity and focus on results, also improving the quality of life and motivation of its employees. A virtuous circle – concludes Caldera – from which the organisation, the people and also the environment benefit”. For all employees who choose to work in "smart" mode, there is specific training on safety and work tools and, for all managers, courses aimed at promoting behavior and work organization capable of promoting smart working . The decision to encourage the use of innovative tools, such as for example the use of chat, to facilitate remote communication also falls within this perspective.
