Vodafone has been awarded frequencies in eleven districts in India for a total amount of approximately 1,9 billion pounds, equal to approximately 2,3 billion euros. The purchase, which took place during an auction launched by the Indian government, was made through the subsidiary Vodafone India.

The purchase of these frequencies is part of the strategy announced by the CEO of the British group Vittorio Colao, which has set a target for the company to control 24% of the global telecommunications market. To achieve the goal, Vodafone has set up an investment plan of 31 billion dollars over the next 3 years.
