Vodafone launches V-Baby Alert, an anti-abandonment system

An anti-abandonment device designed for parents who transport their children by car. It's called V-Baby Alert and will be available from Friday 13 December both online and in Vodafone stores at the price of 99 euros.

How does it work? Exploiting the potential of the Internet of Things. “Thanks to a multiple notification system, it promptly notifies the configured contacts if the child is left alone in the car,” explains Vodafone.

The device consists of a smart cushion that is connected via Bluetooth to a device connected via Vodafone's V-Sim. It is equipped with a GPS receiver and an accelerometer capable of detecting when the machine is stationary or moving and its position. If the car has been stopped for more than 10 minutes and the child is in the seat, the device detects his presence and automatically sends a notification to the main contact. If the phone is switched off, the notification is sent to 5 other configured contacts. The contacted person can stop the alarm through the app, while if the reference contact does not cancel the emergency, V-Baby Alert will start a call.

To activate V-Baby Alert you need to download the V by Vodafone app and follow the guided procedure. At the end of the activation, the user will be invited to download the Tata app to be used daily for device management.

The cost of the device is equal to 99 euros and with 6 months of service included, customers will then pay 1 euro per month by debit on telephone credit for Vodafone customers or on credit cards for Non-Vodafone customers. Vodafone customers will also be able to pay the contribution in installments, starting by paying 3,99 euros for 24 euros.
