Vodafone buys Spain's Ono for 7,2 billion euros

The Iberian company ranks first in Spain in optical fiber, with a network reaching 7,2 million homes – Last year, the group recorded losses after taxes of 41 million euros, against revenues of 1,598 billion euros.

Luxury shopping at home Vodafone. The British mobile telephony giant has acquired 100% of the capital of the Spanish operator Ono for 7,2 billion euros.

According to the CEO of Vodafone, Vittorio Colao, the merger “creates a leading telecommunications operator in Spain and represents an interesting value creation opportunity for Vodafone”.

The Iberian company covers 13 of Spain's 17 regions and has approximately 1,9 million customers, to whom it offers fixed and mobile telephony, internet and television services. Ono, moreover, among the first operators in Spain in the optical fiber, with a network reaching 7,2 million homes. 

Last year the group, which employs around 2.500 people, registered losses after taxes of 41 million euros, against revenues of 1,598 billion euros.
