Vodafone: "Some governments can listen to the conversations of our users"

A disclosure report from the world's second-largest mobile phone company reveals: "In some countries, government agencies have direct access to our network and can listen in on customers' conversations without permission" - Vodafone did not disclose which countries enforce these regulations, but did asked to change them.

In some countries, government agencies can listen to phone calls without authorization. To say it is a "disclosure report" by Vodafone, in which the company declared that in a small number of countries, among the 29 in which it operates, they have direct access to the network and can, therefore, listen to customers' conversations.

The world's second largest mobile phone company was unable to clarify in its press release which countries "the law requires that specific agencies and authorities have direct access to an operator's network, avoiding any form of operational control over the 'interception by the operator', but asked governments to change the legislation so that interceptions can only take place for legal reasons.
