Vodafone accelerates on the Internet of Things

Vodafone pushes on the Internet of Things, a sector now in full development. The company proposes itself as an enabling platform capable of responding to the specific needs of companies and businesses and has the objective of "providing complete solutions and end-to-end services based on secure connectivity and digital tools capable of increasing productivity and speed up the processes”, reads a press release from the group.

During the M2M Forum in Milan, an event dedicated precisely to the Internet Of Things, Vodafone presented a research within which the strong growth of connections between objects and key sectors such as transport, logistics, home automation and retail were analysed. According to the study, “retail in particular is confirmed as one of the sectors with the greatest potential in the IoT field with a growth of 88% year on year worldwide. According to the data – continues the note – 38% of Italian companies have already adopted IoT solutions in this area”.

During the M2M Forum, the company also presented some new features of the Internet of Things offer. Among these Smart Agricolture, created for the purpose of monitoring the level of humidity, lighting and the presence of pollutants in the soil and Smart Parking, the mobile app through which it is possible to find and book a parking space directly from the smartphone, also receiving indications on how achieve it. Other new features include Vodafone Fleet Management, for the remote management of commercial or corporate fleets. Finally, Smart Mobility is also worth mentioning, for the Piaggio Wi-Bike which allows the user to stay connected to his bike even when he is in a physically distant place.
