Vivendi against Mediaset: "He cheated us"

The French giant counterattacks. According to the board of directors of the Bollorè group "the figures provided before the signing of the agreement are not realistic" - Vivendi also speaks of image damage caused by the media attacks by Mediaset and Fininvest

Other than peace. Vivendi doesn't back down a millimetre, on the contrary he counterattacks in no uncertain terms. According to the giant led by Bolloré, Mediaset allegedly cheated on the figures provided before signing the agreement. Not only that: the media attacks received by the company led by Pier Silvio Berlusconi and by Fininvest would have also damaged its image.

This is the summary of the press release issued a few minutes ago by Vivendì's board of directors: "Based on the audit conducted by Deloitte and our analyzes of Mediaset Premium's accounts, the figures provided before the signing (of the transfer agreement) are not realistic and rest on an artificially augmented basis.

Mediaset and Fininvest also allegedly "proceeded abruptly with the launch of media attacks that damaged Vivendi's interests and image" at a time when contacts were still ongoing. Finally, adds the transalpine group in the note, regardless of everything, the European Commission would not have given the green light to the agreement by 30 September, so by that date "the contract would have lapsed in any case".
