About 300 of the best wine-growing expressions on the national scene, with over 2.500 labels for tasting, will enliven VitignoItalia, the Exhibition of Italian wines and wine-growing territories to be held in Naples from 19 to 21 May in the majestic Castel dell'Ovo. In the lead Campania, characterized this year by a large delegation of companies from the Sannio Falanghina area, proclaimed European City of Wine 2019. As a trait d'union, as per tradition, quality, biodiversity and business, hallmarks of the event which, alongside the tastings for the public, offers a rich program of events, including workshops and seminars, led by some of the most important exponents of the sector.

“The 2019 edition – explains Maurizio Teti, director of VitignoItalia – represents a historic milestone and above all a decisive moment to ratify the escalation we have been experiencing in recent years. From edition to edition, in fact, we attract a growing number of producers, buyers, journalists and experts to Naples, both from Italy and abroad, but also enthusiasts and the simple curious. This demonstrates a winning format, capable of keeping up with the times to intercept sector trends, the interests and tastes of the reference public. A continuous evolution, therefore, which joins a path that has always been oriented towards quality and the desire to enhance the best of Made in Italy wine, inextricably linked to pleasure, culture and business. Precisely the business-oriented imprint with an international reach, this year, will be characterized by the presence of 35 qualified buyers arriving from 20 countries, including the USA, China, Russia, Hong Kong and Sweden, and 5 foreign journalists, selected and invited in collaboration with the ICE Agency”.

Numerous B2B meetings and walk around tastings are already planned for them in Castel dell'Ovo, to encourage direct exchange with producers with a view to targeted promotion in key markets for the export of Italian wine. But the incoming activity also looks 'outside the show' with an educational tour that will touch all five provinces of Campania and its most important production areas, starting from the two days before the event.

Instead, on the opening day of VitignoItalia, Sunday 19 May, the final of the third edition of the "Naples Wine Challenge" will take place, which will award the best wines in the competition for each of the five categories provided (red, white, rosé, sparkling and sweet). . The first phase of the competition – created in collaboration with Luciano Pignataro Wine Blog and Doctorwine and open to all companies participating in the Neapolitan event – ​​will take place from 6 to 13 May with the tasting of the four samples proposed by each of the participating wineries. It will be an evaluation, in strictly anonymous form, which will see a prestigious jury at work made up of expert journalists, sommeliers and national and international operators, called to select the 50 top references that will compete for victory and which will be awarded during a public session and streamed.
