Vitae 2024: the best Italian wines awarded by sommeliers for having brought a productive turning point to the territory of origin

Twelve thousand wines reviewed (15.000 on the Vitae App), 900 tasters, 2.354 selected wineries (2.700 in the App), out of a selection of 25.000 bottles: are the numbers of “Vitae 2024”, the guide signed by the Italian Sommelier Association which has been describing the most precious winemaking treasures of the Peninsula for many years. Vitae is an immense compendium of continuously updated data and experiences, in the drafting of which hundreds of AIS tasters who have an in-depth knowledge of their region and every single quality wine production participate. The main theme of this year's Guide is "landscape" "We have chosen landscape as the theme of the 2024 edition of Vitae: an important edition as it marks the first ten years of our publication", explained the national president of AIS, Sandro Camilli. "We wanted invite our readers to undertake a journey, physical and sentimental, to the many places in Italy where a row of rows becomes synonymous with beauty and humanity. Not an abstract invitation but a real one, thanks to the Esperienze di Vitae events, the cycle of local presentations of our guide this year also declined from an interregional perspective, to offer even richer tasting experiences".

During the presentation they were assigned the 22 regional AIS Tastevins, the prestigious award that the association gives to those who have contributed to to give a productive turning point to the territory of origin, to those who represent a reference model of undisputed value in the respective area or to those who have brought forgotten vines back into the spotlight. The awards were presented thanks to the grouping into suggestive categories that highlighted the originality of the productions.

“The numerous excellences are the consecration of some great vintages of the last five years, with a memorable 2019, followed shortly by the excellent 2020. There is no place in the country that has not exalted these vintages, with a series of great reds , almost always the fruit of a single vineyard. The consumer, ranging from north to south - observes the national representative Nicola Bonera - will be spoiled for choice. If the wine movement is traveling at full speed, we at Vitae are also working to keep up with it, with some innovations both in terms of content and with regards to the presentation event".

The latest edition sees three new reports in the guide: the leaf highlights companies that invest resources or stand out for a declared sustainable profile. The tower icon identifies the Virtus Loci, which indicates places or sites of historical, artistic or environmental value in which the winery resides, or which the winery itself represents or bears witness to. Finally, the symbol of key represents the Passepartout Wine, a precious reference for the wine lists of catering professionals since it proves to be highly versatile in pairings. The Milanese presentation concluded with the mentions of the 100 "Gems", the wines that obtained the maximum absolute score in the guide, and the presentation of the busy calendar of Esperienze di Vitae events, thanks to the which in the coming months will be possible throughout Italy to taste the many excellent products mentioned.
