The governor of the Bank of Italy Ignazio Visco withdraws from the race for the Quirinale – On quantitative easing Visco replies to Weidmann and says that the ECB's plan will make it less expensive to implement the reforms

Like Mario Draghi also the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, pulls himself out of the 'TotoQuirinale'. Intercepted by journalists on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, the number 1 of Bank of Italy responded peremptorily and unequivocally to the rumors of his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic: “I'm fine where I am. – said Visco – I like my job”.

On the plan of quantitative easing launched by the ECB, the governor of the Bank of Italy replied to the number 1 of the Bundesbank Jens Weidmann according to which Qe will reduce the EU's pressure on Italy and France to make reforms: "No, it's not like that", said Visco which today in the pages of the newspaper 'La Stampa' specified: "The lesser uncertainty that will derive from Qe will lay the foundations for making the implementation of reforms less expensive, currently held back by adverse cyclical conditions".
