Visco: "Paris attacks weigh on recovery"

"In a context that is still fragile, terrorist attacks certainly add their negative weight on confidence and increase the level of uncertainty": thus the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, speaking precisely in Paris at an OECD conference.

Visco: "Paris attacks weigh on recovery"

In a scenario where the recovery, especially in the euro area, it is still “fragile, the dramatic recent developments, culminating in the incomprehensible terrorist attacks here in Paris, they certainly add their own negative weight on trust and increase the level of uncertainty”.

Thus the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, in the text of a speech delivered today at Paris, on the occasion of a conference organized by the OECD in collaboration with Euromoney magazine in a luxury hotel on the Champs-Elysees. There economic recovery must also face the non negligible effects of the slowdown in emerging economies.

“The most acute phase of the crisis – Visco also explained – and its consequences is over but a number of factors still weigh on bank loans. On the other hand the credit demand is weakened by non-financial companies due to declining debt and the difficult economic situation”.
