Viola: Mps, bank consolidation is not on the agenda

Bank consolidation is currently not being considered. This was assured by Fabrizio Viola, managing director of Monte dei Paschi, on the sidelines of the Ambrosetti workshop in Cernobbio. “Our strategy is to create the conditions to return to being efficient. Frankly speaking, consolidation is not on the agenda,” Viola said.

What is not present in the Mps calendar, however, remains a possibility for everyone else. In fact, Viola believes that in Italy, “after several years in which the banks have put their own houses in order, the next step is consolidation. However, I can't say how and when."

The CEO of Monte Paschi, when asked about the rumors according to which it would be necessary to double the capital increase of one billion already planned, answered with a lapidary "no comment".
