A real full immersion between tastings, workshops, master classes and pairings with the excellence of the area. Protagonists 700 labels from 400 producers

Vinum: The great wines of Piedmont are presented in Alba for three weekends

The appointment for wine tourists and wine lovers is for three mid-spring weekends – from Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th April, from Saturday 30th April to Sunday 1st May and on the weekend of 7th and 8th May – in the city of Alba with Vinum la review of the great wines of Piedmont. Three weekends in which the city will transform into largest open-air wine shop in Italy. They will be beyond 700 labels for tasting, which will offer an overview of about 400 producers, whose wines will be offered in combination with the "Street Food ëd Langa", to enhance the excellent quality of the traditional recipes reproposed by the Alba villages.

 In the ideal path to discover the oenological proposals of the event, the nerve center of the event will be the Palazzo Mostre e Congressi “G. Morra" in Piazza Medford which will host "The great red wines of the Langhe", starting with the iconic Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG, thanks to the collaboration with the Consortium for the protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani. Another reference venue will be Piazza Bubbio, in front of the former court, where the Consortium for the protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani will be on stage with "The white wines of the Langhe", accompanied by street food proposed by Borgo Moretta and the Butchers Association Albesi. To enrich the offer of Piazza Rossetti, the Roero Consortium together with the Vermouth Consortium of Turin and the Cantine di Alba association will propose the gastronomic proposals of the Borghi del Fumo, Santa Rosalia and Santa Barbara. Moving to the Cortile della Maddalena, you will meet the wines of the Barbera d'Asti Consortium and the Monferrato Wines, of the Producers of Montelupo Albese and Rodello, of the Cantina Comunale dei Sorì of Diano d'Alba, of the Consortium for the protection of Gavi, of the Consortium of protection of Brachetto d'Acqui, of the Bottega del Vino Dogliani DOCG, of the Consortium for the protection of Ovada DOCG, of the Colline del Monferrato Casalese Consortium, of the Consortium for the protection and enhancement of “Pinerolese” DOC wines and of the Piedmontese Vignaioli.

Also in the Cortile della Maddalena, the Valle d'Aosta Region will present its wines, while the food offer will be dealt with by ONAF (National Organization of Cheese Tasters), APRO Accademia Alberghiera di Alba, the Historical Group of Flag Wavers and Musicians of the City of Alba and the villages Brichet and San Martino.

Finally moving to Piazza San Paolo, it will be possible to get to know the Consortium of Asti, the Consortium for the protection of Grappa from Piedmont and Grappa di Barolo, and the Dolcetto d'Alba DOC proposed by the Consortium for the protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani, with street food organized by the villages of San Lorenzo, Rane and Patin and Tesòr and with the IGP Piedmont hazelnut in collaboration with the Confraternity of the Tonda Gentile di Langa hazelnut. 

For those who would like to combine the tastings with an in-depth study of the secrets of the denominations, Vinum Lab hosted in the Sala Beppe Fenoglio - inside the Cortile della Maddalena - will offer a rich calendar of events organized in collaboration with AIS Piemonte. There will be Master Classes curated by sommelier Andrea Dani. In each of the 7 days of Vinum – opened in the morning by “DOP cheeses meet great wines”, with tastings guided by ONAF – two Master Classes are scheduled at 16 and 18 pm, which among other topics will also feature the Alta Langa Consortium, the wines of Valle d'Aosta and the Emmaus Project dedicated to Heroic Wines.

The great wines marry the excellence of the territory

With the intention of increasingly expanding the event on the territory, edition after edition, the Fair Authority has seized the initiative promoted by the Municipality of Roddi in collaboration with Piemonte Land of Wine: with "Vinum a Tavola", the kitchens of the pertinence del Castello di Roddi will offer a prestigious showcase of Piedmontese food and wine excellence in five dinners curated by as many chefs. It begins on Saturday 23 April with Alessandro Boglione, while on Friday 29 it will be Enrico Marmo's turn and on Saturday 30 by Stefano Sforza; the last two dates, Friday 6 and Saturday 7 May, will see respectively Luigi Taglienti and Eugenio Boer in the kitchen.

In each of the seven days of Vinum, a dedicated transfer – departing from Piazza Medford at 16 pm – will allow you to live the immersive experience directly in the wine cellars of the area: here, a guided tour of the vineyards and barriques will precede the wine tasting, in combination with the aperitif prepared by renowned chefs. The calendar foresees the pairing between Michele Chiarlo and chef Damiano Nigro on Saturday 23 April, the pairing between Cascina Chicco and chef Giuseppe D'Errico on Sunday 24 April, for the green experience in collaboration with Coldiretti, and the special edition on Monday 25 April with chef Gennaro Di Pace at Castello di Perno, on Saturday 30th April chef Francesco Marchese at the Reva winery, on Sunday 1st May the green experience in collaboration with Coldiretti at Tenuta Carretta with chef Flavio Costa, on Saturday 7th May chef Luigi Taglienti at Cecilia Monte and on Sunday 8 May the second green experience in collaboration with Coldiretti at the Marco and Vittorio Adriano winery, with chef Eugenio Boer.

This year Vinum will be enriched by a series of "outdoor" moments, starting with the picnics in the vineyard promoted by the Municipality of Alba on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April, as part of the European project Interreg Alcotra 2014-2020 VI-A Italy -France "Starred Biodiversity", organized at the Vigna Urbana of the wine school. Same scenario for the International Jazz Day, Saturday 30 April, an event promoted by the Municipality of Alba in collaboration with the Milleunanota association. Other trips out of town are then planned for 23 April and 1 May, with the literary trekking in Barbaresco organized by the Centro Studi Beppe Fenoglio as part of the centenary of his birth. Confartigianato Cuneo will then take care of the "Gourmet walks", which will see the Castle of Roddi as a destination, on 25 April and 8 May. To expand the outdoor offer, on 24 April, 30 April and 7 May, the tour of the crus "The great vineyards of Barolo" promoted by Strada del Barolo. Again, on Sunday 1st May, the hills around Alba will come alive thanks to the treasure hunt in the Langhe organized by Turismo in Langa. The day of May 1 will also be dedicated to folk events, which will culminate in the city center of Alba at 15 pm in Piazza Risorgimento with the "Flags for a friend" festival, curated by the Giostra delle Cento Torri.

Finally, on Saturday 7 May, at 10.30, the auditorium of the Palazzo Mostre e Congressi “G. Morra" in Piazza Medford will host the conference - organized in collaboration with the Consortium for the protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani and Coldiretti Cuneo - to explore the new initiative created as part of the Ecolog project, a revolution in wine logistics in a green key, putting together tourism and road needs.
