Hermes Vintage, auction organized in Montecarlo by Artcurial Briest-Poulain-F.Tajan, and conducted by Francois Tajan, confirmed a growing interest in the "vintage" bags of the Maison Hermes, totaling a total sale of 1.590.000 euros.
Among the growing fashion trends, there is certainly everything that can be considered "vintage", clothes, accessories and anything you can wear that reminds you of life, perhaps if clothes and objects that belonged to stars. The most sought-after object of desire are primarily the fashion accessories from the great French Maison "Hèrmes" and above all its bags. Artcurial, a well-known group of French auction houses, is somewhat of a "cult" place for these lovers of vintage luxury.
Thus stated the director of the department, Cyril Pigot: “Vintage pieces are rare and of great quality to the point of always arousing great interest from amateurs and collectors. Hermès bags are true works of art and their value can be considered a certain safe haven”.
A white crocodile Birkin bag from 2010 fetched €77.400. Others have sold well beyond their estimate, sometimes even tripling their auction base:
- “Birkin” model in pink crocodile (35cm) from 2007 – estimate 35.000-40.000 EUR – sold for 53.000 EUR
- Model “Cabas Symbiose Himalaya” in white and natural leather with side bands in white and plum, from 1989 – Estimate 12.000-15.000 – sold for 45.200 EUR, setting the world record for this fashion accessory.
- “Birkin” model, in amethyst crocodile from 2005, estimate 35.000-40.000 – sold for 45.000 EUR
- “Mini Kelly” model in red crocodile – estimate 15.000-20.000 – sold for 36.400 EUR
- “Kelly” model, in white crocodile, from 2010. Estimate 20.000-25.000 Sold for 36.400 EUR
- Nuage model in black leather with inserts in colored snake, green, red, beige, yellow and blue (on the front of the bag) - ed. special President from 1988 – estimate 8.000-10.000 – sold for 32.500 EUR (in photo)
- Model "Quelle Idole" in orange and brown depicting a fun "visage" ed. Limited from 2000, estimate 5.000-7.000 sold for EUR 27.300
- “Le Prècieux Kelly” model with diamond inserts – estimate 35.000-40.000 EUR
