Wine: the preview of Chiaretto di Bardolino at the end of April on the Veronese side of Lake Garda

It starts again with Corvina Manifesto – The Preview of Chiaretto di Bardolino, the presentation review of the new vintage of the rosé wine from the Veronese side of Lake Garda. The appointment is for Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May. The wines of the 2021 harvest will be available for tasting, the first for which the Chiaretto di Bardolino wording is mandatory on the label, which came into force with the new production specification, which also provided for the usable percentage of the native vine to be raised to 95%. of the Veronese raven. The venue is new. The event will take place on the hills of Bardolino, at the Istituto Salesiano Tusini, a professional center dedicated to the training of young operators specialized in cellar management and vineyard management.

“We are happy – explains Franco Cristoforetti, President of the Consortium for the protection of Chiaretto di Bardolino – to be able to go back to tasting the new vintage in person and we do it in the midst of the vineyards, confirming the strong identity and territorial character of our Chiaretto. For now, the review is scheduled for the trade press. If the regulatory and health framework clears up, we will evaluate solutions for the public of enthusiasts".

“The first bottles of Chiaretto that are leaving the cellars - adds the technical manager of the Consortium, Andrea Vantini - confirm the excellent quality level of the 2021 harvest, which began a few days later than the previous year. The beautiful days and the high temperature variations between day and night favored an optimal ripening of the grapes and at the same time made it possible to have a total acidity on average higher values than in 2020, thus guaranteeing the presence of those characteristics of freshness and sapidity that are typical of Chiaretto di Bardolino”.

Like last year, some Chiarettos from previous years will also enter the market in the spring. In fact, by now there is a good number of producers who offer rosé wines aged for one or two years before being bottled, confirming the Garda denomination as one of the most structured and eclectic of the panorama of European rosé wines.

Waiting for the Preview, there will be various events that will involve the Consortium of Chiaretto di Bardolino in the coming weeks. The pink wine of Verona's Garda will be present at the first major international wine fair of the year, Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris, scheduled in Paris from 14 to 16 February. Also in the French capital, on the same dates the Rosés de Terroirs association will make its debut, which brings together some of the most prestigious names and territories of French rosé and which has included only one exception outside France, that of Chiaretto di Bardolino, represented from the Le Fraghe and Guerrieri Rizzardi farms. Previously, on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February, the organic version of the Bardolino Chiaretto will be the protagonist of the Giulietta&Romeo Cup, the first event of the Italian Historic Car Regularity Championship to be "carbon neutral", since the Veronese startup Treebu will plant, for each crew in the race , a paulownia tree in the woods of the province, effectively nullifying the environmental impact of the event. “We are investing in organic farming, so much so that we now have 350 hectares of organic crops – explains Cristoforetti – and it seems important to us to give a signal in this direction also during this classic car show. We strongly believe in sustainability and organic and biodynamic will soon be at the center of a training course aimed at our winegrowers”.
