History of Prosecco and the Territory of the Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site have been the subject of a Lectio Magistralis which was held at Cornell University in New York: thousands of students in attendance and connected remotely were able to follow the event in connection with the "1868 Gallery" of the Carpenè-Malvolti in Conegliano. Cornell University is one of the major US universities with over twenty thousand students, founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White with the mission of "Founding an Institute where anyone can find instruction in any field"

La lectio magistralis, organized by the Senior Lecturer – Food and Beverage Prof. Cheryl Stanley, gave way to thousands of students and their families to come into contact with the history of Prosecco and the territory in a historical, economic and oenological way".

Il Mayor of Conegliano Fabio Chies has virtually welcomed and introduced the students in the city of Conegliano with a video message: “Una indissoluble history between Conegliano and Carpenè-Malvolti, a history of values, traditions and Territory; precisely that of the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene which has even obtained UNESCO recognition as a World Heritage Site”.

Mariagrazia Morgan, head teacher of the Conegliano Wine School, speaking of the Territory and culture, stated “Our School has a very strong bond with Carpenè-Malvolti, in particular with Antonio Carpenè who founded it together with Gian Battista Cerletti already in 1876. From School Enologica has become a real Campus which, together with the University and the ITS courses, has around 2000 students.

The Enological School has given the start to the winemaking vocation of the area

The Enological School is particularly linked to the Unesco Territory, corresponding to the Prosecco DOCG production areas, as it gave the start to what was the wine-growing vocation of our Territory, but it also trained all the technicians who contributed to the growth from the viticultural point of view and also in the production of excellent quality wines of the area”.

Cornell University in the person of Prof. Stanley has also expressed great satisfaction and deep gratitude to Mayor Chies, to the Director Morgan and to Carpenè-Malvolti herself for the precious contribution reserved to university teaching.
