Vinje Rock is a Festival that takes place in Norway at 1060 meters above sea level in Eidsbugarden in the mountainous area of ​​Jotunheimen, 4 hours by bus from Oslo in lower western Norway: rest assured that a breathtaking mountain panorama will enchant you throughout your stay.

The festival is named after the poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje who built the first cabin in Eidsbugarden and gave the name Jotunheimen to the surrounding mountains: it is a festival that embodies typical Norwegian living with music, hiking, and mountain life.

At Vinje Rock you will find the most varied sporting activities and courses from the morning until the afternoon and instead from the afternoon until late at night a varied and rich choice of music. However, it is advisable to wear sports clothing for mountain excursions and above all to bring some heavy sweaters for the night because at 1060 meters even in summer in Norway you could have some freezing surprises after sunset.

Alongside the sports collateral activities we find big names in Norwegian Pop music, Indie Rock, Folk Rock, Jazz, Soul and numerous DJs to satisfy that younger and more festive audience of Vinje Rock who also have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious "Silent Disco" (all participants are equipped with headphones to listen to the same music at the same time).

In this edition (just to name a few) there were the Right with Latin American alternative music and soul rhythms, ISAAC with songs in the Sami language (ancient language of the indigenous peoples of Scandinavia) combined with English lyrics, the dance-oriented jazz sound of Moon Hooch, the pop stars Sigrid e Aurora, the DJ&Drums sound of Kickslip, the band's experimental rock MaidaVale, underground pop and world music by Orion's Belt, indie alternatives by Thea Hjelmeland, the folk sound of The big Band Vinjefolk and also one of the most important DJs of the Oslo scene, DJ Hercules.

In addition to the musical proposal there are excursions to the surrounding peaks, Uranostind and Falketind, and even walks along the glacier, these excursions range from amateur walks, to safaris to discover flora and fauna to more demanding trekking routes marked with a black difficulty sticker, but you won't have to worry about anything since you will be accompanied by the expert mountain guides of the historic Norwegian hiking association DNT.

A special mention deserves the "high altitude walk for lonely hearts“, if you are in an age considered between 20 and 30 years you will be able to access an excursion that favors the formation of couples, you will be provided with a hat signaling your love situation: green means free, orange perhaps looking for contact and red means engaged. What's better than finding love in the High Mountains?

After the hiking activity there are also trips by boat canoe, courses of SUP (means paddling while balancing on a surfboard), SUP-yoga e fishing courses, running, and using the compass, then there are first aid courses, mountain landscape photography courses, sewing courses and many stories, tales of hiking and adventure travel undertaken by expert climbers and also talks given by a biologist of the WWF, and finally a very colorful high mountain Pride.

To conclude, Vinje Rock Festival is a pearl of mountain music, nature and culture that shines on the mountains of Jotunheimen, recommended to all those who want venture up there to discover another life.
