Wines: journey into the world of Satèn in Erbusco, 60 Franciacorta wineries all together for an exceptional tasting

Un exceptional sensory journey into the world of Satèn di Franciacorta, a wine with unique and unmistakable characteristics, for its sapidity and freshness above all for its softness which recalls the delicate sensations of silk (hence the name) is what they offer on the weekends of 10/11 and 17/18 September the Cantine di Franciacorta of Erbusco. In the exclusive location of the wine shop, an open space of 500 square meters, you can taste and compare well 60 Satèn from the most prestigious and historic wineries but also from emerging ones, exceptionally presented together in a single event.

Il tasting counter will be distributed during the four days of the festival of Franciacorta, with the presence of 15 manufacturing companies each day. Each company will offer two types of Franciacorta, Satèn and another of its choice, so that you will have the opportunity to taste 30 different Franciacortas for each of the four days. The tastings will be accompanied by a refined buffet. Four sessions a day, of about two hours each (at 10, 12.30, 15, 17.30).

The two weekends will therefore be a unique opportunity to taste a very wide selection of Franciacorta through a sensory journey in which different emotions and sensations will be perceived with each taste and you will be able to obtain information from the sommeliers and experts of Cantine di Franciacorta on the peculiarities of each of each wine and each company.

A recent story that quickly convinced the national and international market

Wine with a very fine and persistent perlage, almost creamy, even intense straw-yellow in colour, with greenish hues, with a nuanced but decisive aroma of ripe fruit accompanied by delicate notes of white flowers and dried fruit, even toasted (almond and hazelnut), the Even if Satèn has a recent history, it quickly imposed itself on the Italian and international wine market. In the early 80s some important professional tasters expressed flattering judgments for a Franciacorta obtained with slow fermentation in the bottle, produced from only white grapes with a relatively lower bottle pressure.

In 1990, thanks to the collaboration and intuition of some communication experts, this Franciacorta was given the name "Satèn". The identification of the term was the result of a guided search through a precise path and a goal: to find a name which, responding to extraordinary requirements of musicality and phonetics, synthetically designate the simplicity and sensitive and pure memory of the word "silk" (such as the softness and consistency of fabrics) and of the word "satin" (as an image reflected in the colour).

In the two-year period 1994/1995, simultaneously with the study of viticultural and oenological zoning of Franciacorta, a Sensory Panel of oenologists and producers of the area, carried out 184 tastings of that particular wine to define and codify the special method of elaboration, the best typology and the chemical characteristics physical and organoleptic qualities of Franciacorta "Satèn".

The choice of the name to render the silky effect of a high quality wine

The Franciacorta Consortium, given the spontaneous recognition of the product and the name used, unique and unrepeatable, has obtained from the companies that have mainly contributed to the research the willingness to use that term.

In 1995, the Franciacorta Consortium registers the “Satèn” brand to identify that particular type of Franciacorta, reserved only for producers associated with the protection Consortium who have full availability as long as they comply with the strict production standards.

After statistically reprocessing all the data collected and interpreted, the Technical Commission of the Franciacorta Consortium established and defined the production, chemical/physical and organoleptic characteristics of Franciacorta "Satèn".
