Also for 2015 it is Italian sparkling wine the best selling in the world. The detects it Wine Monitor by Nomisma explaining that over 2,7 million hectoliters of Italian sparkling wine have been sold worldwide against 1,8 of the French ones and 1,6 of the Spanish ones.

Over 85% of the sparkling wines exported to the world comes from Italy, France and Spain for a total value of 3,9 billion euros.

The Wine Monitor estimates on 2015 exports indicate a joint growth compared to the previous year of 8% in volume and 15% in value for the sparkling wines of the 3 top world exporters.

But price difference between Italy and France, at the moment it remains unbridgeable given that the average French export prices are more than 4 times higher than the Italian ones. In fact, to the 17,1 euros per liter of sparkling wines from beyond the Alps, Italy responds with the 3,57 euros per liter of our sparkling wines.

Continuing to look at Italy, around 80% of Italian exports relate to PDO sparkling wines, within which the leading role belongs to Prosecco. The markets where Prosecco is experiencing a real boom are the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, Canada and the Scandinavian countries while Asti is undergoing a reduction in sales especially in Russia, Germany, the United States and Japan.
