Viet Nam: business opportunities for Italian companies

Business opportunities for Italian companies in Viet Nam will be the focus of a conference organized in Bologna at the Uninoncamere headquarters

Viet Nam will be at the center of a series of initiatives organized by UNIDO (United Nations Organization for Industrial Development), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Confindustria. On 30 March one of these initiatives will take place in Bologna at the headquarters of Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna (further information is provided in the attachment), and will have as its objective the presentation of business opportunities for Italian companies in the South-East Asian country .

During the meeting, issues relating to economic and legislative conditions will be addressed. as well as issues relating to the labor market and some testimonials from Italian companies that have already made investments in the region will be presented.

The interest in Viet Nam arises from the analysis of some data. First of all, it is an extremely dynamic market made up of 86 million inhabitants (70% of whom are under 35) which in recent years has seen very high growth rates in the demand for foreign consumer goods. The economic reforms initiated at the end of the 80s have borne considerable fruit in terms of economic growth with the GDP increased overall by 30%.%. These dynamics were facilitated by the country's entry into the WTO, which took place in 2007, which produced an increase in the propensity for internationalization which can be seen in increases in import and export volumes. Furthermore, the opportunity to invest in Viet Nam must be evaluated in a medium-term perspective since from 2015 the country will be part of the largest free trade area in the world (AFTA).

The commercial relations between Viet Nam and the realities of Emilia-Romagna have marked a significant increase in recent years both in terms of import (71 million euro) and in terms of exports (64 million euro).

Overseeing the Vietnamese market will allow for considerable proximity to emerging Asian markets without directly incurring any non-tariff barriers imposed for entry into the aforementioned countries.

The reasons behind the meeting arise from the awareness of the fact that business opportunities in Viet Nam are little known by Italian companies, especially medium-small ones.
