Versalis restarts the Porto Marghera cracking plant

Versalis, group company Eni, announces the temporary restart of thePorto Marghera cracking plant. The decision to restart the Venetian plant follows the signing of a supply agreement with Shell. The restart of the plants, reads a note, is expected by first half of February.

Eni maintains that the restart of the cracking plant will not alter the development strategies aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the cracking site Porto Marghera, already shared and formalized with the institutions and social partners through the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 14 November 2014 at the Ministry for Economic Development. The protocol provides for the restructuring of the plant which will be transformed into a bio-chemical plant thanks to the agreement reached with Elevance renewable sciences which will take three years to become fully operational.
