Versace to the USA: it will go to Tiffany or Michael Kors for 2 billion

Another big name in Italian fashion is ready to move. Versace, one of the last independent made in Italy maisons, is about to become American. She reveals it Corriere della Sera, according to which the official announcement of the sale should already arrive on Tuesday 25 September.

Who is the "lucky" buyer? There are three “papable” giants. The American group would have the advantage Michael Koars, who had already bought Jimmy Choo two years ago, even if Tapestry (former Coach), Tiffany would also be in the match. The Kering hypothesis, on the other hand, seems to have faded.

As for the price, Versace would have been valued at 2 billion dollars (about 1,7 billion euros).

We recall that the company is now 80% controlled by Givi, a holding company owned by Santo and Donatella Versace and Allegra, daughter of the latter. The remaining share is instead in the hands of Blackstone.

The Medusa fashion house could therefore be yet another fashion house to leave Italy for the United States. In the past, some of the flagships of Made in Italy had instead chosen Paris. Any examples? Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Pomellato passed under the control of Pinault, while Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Bulgari, Loro Piana and Cova were acquired, one after the other, by Lvmh, enriching the now indisputable French luxury.
