Lung ventilators: production boom with Siare-Fca agreement

In order not to be caught unprepared in the event of a resurgence of Covid-19, Italy accelerates the production of lung respirators. In the last three months they have been built three thousand thanks to the collaboration between the Civil protection – through the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Coronavirus emergency, Domenico Arcuri -, the Be Engineering of Valsamoggia (Bologna), the only Italian company to produce these appliances, and some Italian workers from fca.

Before the pandemic, Siare Engineering's monthly production was much smaller: around 125 machines per month. Compared to the first stages of the infection, however, production has risen from 8 to 80 units a day thanks to the alliance with Fiat Chrysler, which has made its Cento plant (Ferrara). This is where they are now being made the solenoid valves, the heart of the fans, allowing a reduction in the construction times of the complete equipment inside the Valsamoggia plant of at least 30-50%.
