Venezuela, Maduro: arrests and removals

Luisa Ortega Diaz was removed as Venezuela's attorney general by the Constituent Assembly. The Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab, has been appointed in her place. The magistrate had decided to investigate the fraud in the elections for the constituent a few days ago.
Ortega Diaz was attacked by the 'Bolivarian National Guard' as she tried to enter her office in Caracas. “I was pushed, they attacked me with shields to prevent” entry into the office, she told the media.

But it is not only the removal of Ortega Diaz that has provoked indignation and new grievances on the part of the opposition, in a crescendo that has also seen the Holy See intervene with a message from Pope Francis. The Venezuelan authorities have released the mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, one of the main opponents of the Maduro government, allowing him to return to house arrest. The news was given by Ledezma's wife, Mitzy Capriles, on Twitter. «I inform the country that a few minutes ago, surprisingly, Antonio was brought back by Sebin (the Venezuelan secret service) to our residence. He returns to house arrest ». The other opposition leader, Leopoldo Lopez, leader of the Popular Voluntad movement, remains in prison instead, who was under house arrest in his home in Caracas and who was taken by the security forces and arrested on the night of 1 August. "a real kidnapping" denounced the daughter.
