Venice: weekend in the company of Pollock's Alchemy at Peggy Guggenheim's home

Is there a better place to spend Easter day or Easter Monday than at Peggy's house, "in the company" of Jackson Pollock's Alchemy? In fact, on the occasion of the Easter holidays, the museum follows the usual opening hours, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 April inclusive, from 10 to 18.

An opportunity not to be missed to see, still until 6 April, the famous painting by the American artist exceptionally exhibited without a protective case, just like in Peggy's time. Furthermore, on Sunday 5 April, from 15 to 16.30 pm, space for the little ones who, thanks to the kids day Art and geometry… avant-garde ovals! they will be able to familiarize themselves with the use of geometric figures in 4th century art, from Cubism to the figures of Antoine Pevsner. From the 22 April the multimedia part of the exhibition Alchemy by Jackson Pollock. Journey inside matter, which through videos, 3D reproductions, touch-screens, interactive tools, accompanies visitors on a surprising journey inside the material, reopens to the public, while Alchemy it will be exhibited again, in its protective case, on the occasion of the eagerly awaited exhibition dedicated to the imposing mural created by Pollock for Peggy Guggenheim's New York apartment, in 1943. The first European stage of this traveling exhibition, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni is preparing to welcome the largest work ever created by the genius of American abstract Expressionism. Precisely because of its monumental dimensions, over 6 meters in length and 2,5 in height, and its figurative "dynamism", the mural marked a turning point in the history of XNUMXth-century American art and the exhibition curated by David Anfam, Senior Consulting Curator of the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver, Jackson Pollock, mural. Energy made visible intends to reveal the effects on the art of the time, up to the present day. The exhibition will remain open from 23 April to 16 November.

Also note the opening on the agenda, always on April 23 and until September 14 of another absolute preview, the most exhaustive retrospective ever dedicated to Charles Pollock, (1902-1988), Jackson's older brother. With over one hundred works, including paintings, photographs, documents, many of which are unpublished, granted by the Charles Pollock Archive in Paris, Charles Pollock. A retrospective, edited by Philip Rylands, traces the career of Charles Pollock, from figurative art to abstraction, revealing to the public, in a more intimate and private light, also the close relationship that bound him to his more famous younger brother, and to the other members of the Pollock family.
