“During this suspended time, art and culture have had a fundamental soothing role, and today it is our duty to carry on our mission, to educate, finally reopening the doors of the museum, even if in a condition of great uncertainty". says director Karole PB Vail. “In order for the reopening to be economically sustainable, my staff and I will welcome you to the museum halls and I think this is a good exercise in resistance and cultural resilience. For this I am particularly grateful to my team for giving their full availability during the weekends. We have always believed in the transformative and therapeutic power of art, which consoles and gives strength even in the worst situations, therefore, during these 86 days of closure, we have never stopped communicating with our public by bridging the physical distance with activities on the site and social media. We are reopening so that the museum can once again become, today more than ever, the place of a community that recognizes itself in trust and dialogue, therefore it will not be a less pleasant visit, it will be a different visit and together we will return to bringing the Collection to life thanks to your looks and mutual exchange. We are also aware of the great efforts we will have to face to make up for the losses due to this very long forced closure, but we are confident of getting back up again, thanks to the affection and support of the community next to us, of the "Friends" and supporters of the museum in primis, but also of the Venetians, of the Venetians, whom we are waiting for first, in great numbers, and of the Italian and international public who have demonstrated in this long period of lockdown, through emails and social messages, their closeness to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection".
