Generali announces the opening to the public of “Old Procuratie”, building in Piazza San Marco in Venice and headquarters of the Foundation of the group “The Human Safety Net“. This concludes the work of recovery of the property, which lasted five years. The restoration was carried out by David Chipperfield Architects Milan under the patronage of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism.

Il recovery project it involved 12.400 square meters of what was once the seat of the Procurators of San Marco, the second office of the Serenissima after the Doge. The first two floors have been recovered by eliminating all the additions made in the modern era and bringing the rooms back to their former glory. The third floor, never used before, will host “The Human Safety Net”, an initiative that will involve Generali in actions related to the social sector through partnerships and investments with local businesses and NGOs in Europe, Asia and Latin America. From the 13th it will be possible to visit the palace, with preview from tomorrow to Monday reserved for Venetians.

The Procuratie Vecchie occupy everything the north side of Piazza San Marco in Venice and were designed by the architect Bartolomeo Bon and later by Jacopo Sansovino in the first half of the 1832th century during the renovatio urbis program of the Doge Andrea Gritti. The building – acquired by Generali in XNUMX, just a few months after its foundation in Trieste – was converted into a globally connected high-tech workplace, without detracting from its identity as a Renaissance work of art.
