Venice, Generali opens Palazzo Cini to the public

Generali opens the Palazzo Cini house-museum in Venice to the public, in partnership with the Cini Foundation, offering for the fourth consecutive year the community and enthusiasts the opportunity to access the Palazzo which opens its prestigious collection of ancient art to the contemporary world and modern.

Cini Palace, open from 21 April to 15 November 2017, exhibits the prestigious works of one of the most important private collectors of the Italian twentieth century, Vittorio Cini, together with the new contemporary art project of the Brazilian artist Vik Muniz, inspired by the works of the Palace.

Reopened in 2014 and located in the so-called Museum Mile, between the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Punta della Dogana, Palazzo Cini offers the opportunity to make known and appreciate a unicum in the Venetian museum panorama, which alongside sculptures and objects of art includes Tuscan and Ferrarese paintings with works by Giotto, Guariento, Botticelli, Filippo Lippi, Piero di Cosimo and Dosso Dossi. All these works inspired the artist Vik Muniz, who created the Afterglow: Pictures of Ruins project on display.

“Art, in all its manifestations, is one of the highest human expressions of creativity and ingenuity – said the Chairman of the Generali Group, Gabriele Galateri of Genola – offers models from which to draw ideas and suggestions for interpreting the present and planning the future. An example of this is Palazzo Cini, in a dialogue between the original collections of ancient and modern art and the temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. In Venice Generali undertakes to promote and preserve the artistic, architectural and environmental heritage and to stimulate innovative ideas and actions for the progress of the community”.

Generali is an institutional supporter of the Cini Foundation, with which it shares the commitment to access and promote culture.
