Venice, carnival of art and culture: rich program at the Peggy Guggenheim

The Venice Carnival also conquers the Peggy Guggenehim Collection: during the two weeks of the exhibition, from 15 February to 3 March, the museum offers all its visitors a rich calendar of events, including guided tours and workshops for children.

To discover anecdotes and curiosities about Peggy's life, about her collection, the Nasher Sculpture Garden, and learn more about the temporary exhibition Themes&Variations. The empire of light we start with a series of Free guided tours, in Italian and English, which take place tutti i giorni, at 11, 12, 15.30, 16, 16.30 and 17. Visits are included in the entrance ticket to the museum and reservations are not required. An unmissable opportunity to visit the exhibition curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, who masterfully brings together masterpieces by artists such as Degas, Matisse, Rothko, Magritte, Richter, Kapoor and Hockney, crossing three centuries of art history. The final poetic tribute to the sculptor is not to be missed Fausto Melotti.   

In line with the theme of Carnival of this year, "Fantastic nature”, will be i kids day, free educational workshops for children aged 4 to 10, which take place every Sunday in the museum from 15 to 16.30 pm. The first appointment on February 16 is with Nature Pop! Andy Warhol's Flowers. Fit, cut, flatten and edit the image, making it graphic. Starting from a photograph of hibiscus flowers, just like the one used by Andy Warhol, the participants will reproduce the same image in series to create a pop work. February 23 will be the turn of An avant-garde bestiary. Discovering the fantastic animals of the Collection. Walking through the rooms of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni you will go in search of the animals hidden in the works collected by Peggy: horses, chimpanzees, parrots among Cubism e Futurism they will form an animated bestiary. And from Peggy's house we move to the Giardini della Biennale. The United States of America Pavilion, thanks to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, participates again this year in the 5. International Children's Carnival of the Biennale of Venice, which will take place from 22 February to 4 March at the Giardini di Castello (Venice). On the occasion of The cookie house, the United States of America presents Through the mirror, a laboratory that will allow participants to discover the world of theater and fairy tales, through a magical tool such as the mirror. The workshop is free, for children aged 6 to 10, will last one hour and will take place at 15pm on February 22nd and at 11am and 15pm on February 23rd, 1st, 2nd and 4th March.
