Venice: ART IN PORT – Coexistence: for a new Adriatic koinè

From December 20, at the exhibition hall of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice at the Magazzino del Sale n°3, the fourth of the five stages of the contemporary art exhibition "ART IN PORT - Coexistence: for a new Adriatic koinè".

Venice: ART IN PORT – Coexistence: for a new Adriatic koinè

The traveling exhibition is organized as part of the European project "arTVision", which will involve the artists of the five partner countries: Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy (Veneto and Puglia).

Venice is the penultimate stop for the Coexistence exhibition which arrives in Italy after the appointments in Tirana (Albania), Cetinje (Montenegro), Rijeka (Croatia). The exhibition, which will end on 17 January 2015, will then move to Polignano a Mare on 31 January for the "grand finale".

Cooperating to give voice to art, to multiply its visions, to build a story of many voices, connected in a large Adriatic and transmedia network: this is the spirit of Coexistence: for a new Adriatic Koinè, during its journey through the 'Adriatic.

The exhibition is part of the project "arTvision – A.LIVE ART CHANNEL” funded under the European Program IPA Adriatic CBC 2007/2013, with the aim of mobilizing and connecting the creative energy of young artists called to participate as protagonists. It is a pilot project led by the Puglia Region – Policies Area for the Promotion of the Territory, Knowledge and Talents, with the technical support of the Apulia Film Commission, which involves: Pino Pascali Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art; Veneto Region – Cultural Activities and Entertainment Section; Venice Academy of Fine Arts; Ministry of Culture of Montenegro; Faculty of Dramatic Arts of Cetinje – Montenegro; Ministry of Culture of Albania; University of the Arts of Tirana – Albania; Primorje-Montana County – Croatia; Kanal RI – Croatia.

The promoting idea is aimed at structuring a close dialogue between cross-border nations through a cultural operation in order to trace commonalities and discontinuities between peoples who share the mare nostrum, the Adriatic Mediterranean.
One exhibition, five declinations. Different locations and territories to affirm the concept of a new linguistic Koinè that translates territorial identities into the dynamics of relationships, openness and confrontation.

The artists involved come from different geographical areas and, coordinated by a team of curators directed by the Pino Pascali Museum Foundation in close collaboration with the coordinators of the project partners, they discussed common themes such as stories and narratives, myths and legends, spirituality and religions , migrations and nomadism, to arrive at reinforcing an idea of common European roots that is too often forgotten.

The curatorship of the exhibition is entrusted to Martino Scavezzon and Gaetano Mainenti. The artists of the Venetian selection are Giulia Maria Belli, present with a video animation that models the matter of painting on the time of the audiovisual; Chiara Bugatti, who proposes a very refined installation that originates from the Adriatic; Enej Gala, a Slovenian artist who has been present in Venice for some years, who with undeniable pictorial skill investigates the monstrous irony of massification; Annamaria Maccapani, a brilliant young sculptress who, starting from the problems of exchange and communication, monumentalises a child's game through an almost baroque perfection of sculpture; Francesca Piovesan, present in the exhibition with a further disconcerting form of photography: adhesive tape treated with silver nitrate through which the entire surface of a body is "photographed".
