Venice still under water, now Florence is also worried

The tide warning continues in Venice: 160 centimeters above mean sea level are forecast for Sunday. The city is still on its knees: the civic museums will be closed for the whole day. Due to the high tide, the Basilica of San Marco will also be closed, and the religious functions scheduled for the morning will not be celebrated. Sunday "will be a tough day" for Venice, says mayor Brugnaro, underlining that in any case "the winds are decreasing, and the peak predicted by the Centro Maree of 160 cm is high but the one that destroyed the city on Tuesday was 187 centimeters". After a week that marked tides that have not been seen (in such a short space of time) since 1872, it can still be said that after today the situation should gradually return to normal.

Meanwhile, the alarm is shifting to Tuscany, above all in Florence where the Arno has risen above the first guard level, reaching 3,50 meters on the embankment, due to the rains that have been affecting a large part of the Region since Saturday evening. The Arno itself reached the second level at Incisa-Figline. This is what is learned from the civil protection of the metropolitan city and from the regional operations room, which has issued the orange alert throughout Tuscany. The Bisenzio river in San Piero a Ponti also passes the first level of the guard.
