Veneto, 1,5 billion from Terna for the electricity grid

One and a half billion euros. This is the amount it will invest in the next few years Terna in Veneto for the renewal of the electricity grid. In the plan of the company that manages the electricity infrastructure at a national level, there is in fact a lot of attention to the North-East region, and there is also close attention to transparency towards local communities. This is why, following the initiation of the authorization procedure by the Ministry of Economic Development, regarding the most recent initiative, i.e. the rationalization of the network between Malcontenta and Fusina, the company will publish on its website the list of parcels relating to potentially affected by the works, located in the Municipalities of Venice and Mira. Citizens, and in particular the owners of the parcels affected by the works, can view the project in electronic format, and send comments to Terna within 30 days.

The investment relating to the rationalization of the electricity grid between Malcontenta and Fusina has a value of around 190 million, and will make it possible to increase the efficiency of the regional electricity system. The project involves the development and reorganization of the 132, 220 and 380 kV power lines in the section between the Enel Palladio thermoelectric plant in Fusina up to the west of the Romea State Road. The planned activities include the construction of a new 380 kV connection from the Fusina plant to the Fusina 2 power station, the burial of 24 km of power lines with consequent elimination of over 21 km of power lines and 89 pylons, the expansion of the Fusina 2 power station and the reconstruction of the Malcontenta power station. Overall, the interventions will make it possible to free up over 53 hectares of land.

As mentioned, Terna's Development Plan envisages a total investment of 1,5 billion euros in Veneto. These are the main interventions foreseen: the completion of the rationalization between Venice and Padua which also includes the new underground cable power line between Dolo and Camin, the new Volpago del Montello electrical station with associated network restructuring, the rationalization of the electricity network in the Media Valle del Piave and the conclusion of the new underground cable connection between Cortina and Auronzo of Cadore.

Furthermore, the experimentation relating to the use of the regional electricity grid for the purposes of environmental monitoring of the territory will continue, the result of a specific agreement signed by Terna with the Veneto Region on 18 February this year. The company now led by Stefano Donnarumma has in fact developed and installed in Veneto an integrated system of advanced sensors, made up of around 500 IoT (Internet of Things) devices on its networks, which will allow the collection and real-time analysis of information useful for greater efficiency and flexibility of the regional electricity system. The data collected can be shared with Arpav and the Civil Protection, research institutes and local protection and control bodies, to favor the predictability of emergency phenomena.
